Meteorite
by Yoko Inoue
translated by Alex Jones
Water was waiting for the start of the world.
She stood by the shores of lake Tagish,
Clothed in a little slip.
And so,
A prince,
Arrived from the land of -260 degrees.
The prince fell madly in love with Water.
They would talk for hours,
At the bottom of the lake.
The prince,
Slipped Water out of her slip,
And before long,
A little life was born.
The little life,
Was turned into a fish;
The fish,
Was turned into a lizard;
The lizard,
Was turned into a human,
Time goes by;
The human,
Is waiting for the end of the world,
When the prince,
Changes into a meteorite,
And starts once again,
To build a new world. |

a meteorite
by Yoko Inoue
translated by Mugi Takei
the water waiting for the world's beginning
by the shore of Lake Tagish
was standing
in her slip
thereupon
a prince arrived
from the country of 260 degrees below zero
the prince fell in love
with the water
at the bottom of the lake
the two spent time chatting
the prince took her slip off
and so
a little life was born
the little life was turned in to a fish
the fish
was turned into a lizard
the lizard
was turned into a person
without noticing it
people are longing for the end of the world
the prince transformed himself into a meteorite
to start making a new world again
